Theme 2. WRITING: Summary writing; Essentials in summary writing. 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Identification of weak forms. 

Theme 4. READING: Reading for Critical Evaluation. 

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Prose. Reading of the recommended text (no no content because there is no recommended text)..

Week 3

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING i. Phrases and question tags 

Theme 2. WRITING: Writing skills 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Modifiers (Adjectives & adverbs) 

Theme 4. READING:  Reading to grasp meaning 

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Prose. Reading recommended prose text (no content because there is no recommended text). 

Week 4

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING: Composition passage: 

Theme 2. WRITING: Writing skills 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Introduction to synonyms. 

Theme 4. READING: Chanting a poem 

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Reading the recommended prose text (no content because there is no recommended text). 

Week 5

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING: Speaking skills.

Theme 2. WRITING: Summary writing 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Modal verbs and adverbials. 

Theme 4.  READING: Reading for main points. 

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Reading 1. Class room reading of recommended prose text (no content because there is no recommended text). 

Week 6

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING: Asking and answering questions 

Theme 2. WRITING: Letter writing; Informal letters: 

Theme 3.  GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Word building. Using suffixes to form new words from root words. 

Theme 4. READING: Critical evaluation.

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Prose reading. Reading the recommended text (prose) (no content because there is no recommended text). 

Week 7

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING Consonant sounds 

Theme 2. WRITING: Letter writing Informal letter its features. 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: The use of Conjunctions,  prepositions and interjections. 

Theme 4. READING: Summary; Summarizing in a number of sentences.

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Prose reading. Reading the prose text for themes, characters and plot structure (no recommended text). 

Week 8

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING: Intonation pattern; Intonation stress pattern on speeches.

Theme 2. WRITING: Letter writing. Writing informal letters. 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Use of parts of speech. 

Theme 4. READING Comprehension: Listening to comprehension passage taken from students’ prescribed text. 

Theme 5. LITERATURE:  Prose Reading the text for mood, tone, symbolism and imagery (no presented text, hence no content). 

Week 9

Theme 1. LISTENING/SPEAKING: Consonant sounds, Contrasting the voiceless /ɵ/ and the voice /ə/. 

Theme 2. WRITING:  Writing skills in letter. Revising formal letter. 

Theme 3. GRAMMATICAL ACCURACY: Verbs; Modal verbs and other forms of expressing a wish. 

Theme 4. READING: Reading for points. 

Theme 5. LITERATURE: Poetry study (no recommended poem).
