IN THIS TERM, LEARNERS SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR THE FOLLOWING IN DETAIL:

Week 1

Theme 1. Listening and speaking. Consonants /Ѳ/ and /ā/ contrasted 

Theme 2. Grammatical Accuracy: Verbs Using modal verbs and other forms to express permission. 

Theme 3. Reading: Identifying active and passive verbs. 

Theme 4. Writing: Skills in writing a poem. 

Theme 5. Literature: Drama - Introduction to the prescribed dramatic text (prescribed text in the scheme is outdated). 

Week 2

Theme 1. Speech:  (listening and speaking) - Consonant sounds usage.

Theme 2. Reading: Reading to grasp meaning. 

Theme 3. Grammatical Accuracy: Correct use of verbs. 

Theme 4. Writing: Writing skills - Descriptive composition. 

Theme 5. Literature: Biography - Biography of the playwright (the prescribed drama) (no prescribed text; hence no content). 

Week 3

Theme 1. Speaking and listening (speech work) 

Theme 2. Grammatical Accuracy: Verbs - Modal verbs for expressing possibility. 

Theme 3 . Reading: Reading for evaluation. 

Theme 4. Writing: Writing Skills - Expository composition. 

Theme 5. Literature: Drama - Introduction to the theme, setting and plot of the prescribed drama text (no recommended text; hence no content). 

Week 4

Theme 1. Speech: Speaking & Listening - Speaking skills. 

Theme 2. Grammatical Accuracy: Modal for expressing ability. 

Theme 3. Writing:  Writing skills - Writing a fare well speech. 

Theme 4. Reading a given comprehension to answer question. 

Theme5.  Literature: Review Discussion of the text and summary of it (no prescribed text; hence no content).

Week 5

Theme 1. Speech:  Listening and speaking - Asking and answering questions. 

Theme 2, Reading Comprehension: Reading selected passage form student text for comprehension. 

Theme 3. Writing:  Writing skills - Summary writing: 

Theme 4. Grammatical Accuracy: Modals for expressing ability

Theme 5. Literature:  Reading Highlight of the main characters and events in the text (no content because no text was read). 

Week 6

Theme 1. Speech (listening/speaking): Intonation - Rising and falling tone.

Theme 2. Writing: Writing skills - Diary and record keeping.

Theme 3. Reading:  Reading skills - Reading for maximum retention and recall (form students text). 

Theme 4. Grammatical accuracy: Adverbials - modes of expressing restriction using adverbials. 

Theme 5. Literature: Reading, Revision of treated literature texts.
